IPSA, IPC, IGPA, what does all this mean? The Mexican IPC (Indice de Precios y Cotizaciones) is an index that groups together about 40 of the stocks exchanging on the Mexican Bolsa de Valores. Its purpose is to measure the variations in average stock price based on activity. The Chilean IPSA (Indice de Precios Selectivo de Acciones) takes into account the 40 stocks wtih the greatest market capitalization on the Chilean market which are selected on an annual basis. Its purpose is to reflect the variation in price of the stocks most active in the Chilean market. The Chilean IGPA (Indice General de Precios de Acciones) is an index that groups together almost all of the stocks exchanging on the Chilean market. Its purpose is to measure the variations in average stock price based on activity. The Chilean INTER-10 reflects the behavior of the principal Chilean stocks which are exchanged on international markets (i.e. non-Chilean) and which have a high presence and transaction volume within the Chilean market. The index groups together the 10 principal stocks that fall under the IPSA. Stocks indexed by the INTER-10 are reviewed on a quarterly basis by the Chilean Bolsa.
